Spinelli, David

Can you hear me?

Dave Spinelli has been called an anti-poet.  He's been called the Junior Bard of New London.  He's been called the chronicler of the New London Poetry Wars .  But he mostly goes by Bambino.  His message to the world is, "Don't think about it.  Just write it."

His one and only chapbook is Hold the Tomatoes (Nameaug Press 2008).  His work has appeared in Tangerine, Fell Swoop, Burp, Flying Fish, Out of Our, Elephant, Fuck, and Chopper.  He is a regular contributor to The Scope.

He also likes to take lots of photos.  Bemo and The NL Poet Portrait Project  were shown at the Bean & Leaf and at the Thamesport Beanery.

St. John, Jake

jake_stjohn@hotmail.com

"The poetry of Jake St. John is a whirling roller coaster ride of elation and revelation throwing its speeding shadow down onto the pavement of the amusement park of dreams.  In the front seat the reader views the vast expanse of the distant horizon, as well as the broken bones of the days and the ocean of spilled wine with its swimming souls grasping at the minutia that fills in the space between here and the infinite.  The rhythm of St. John’s language turns the sharp curves with ease, flying down the track to mount a slope of ecstasy.  When the poems end, and the ride over, we leave exhilarated, wanting to go back for more."    - John Greiner Paris France

"If you have never been there, you wouldn’t know, but herewith presented for a modest admittance, is a glimpse into an alternate reality through the kaleidoscopic palette of Jake St. John. Skillful in its economy, the visual panorama is only enhanced exponentially by the poet’s frugality.  There is no gross overspending here; this is guts on a tight budget. Possessed of deep courage, St. John cultivates his scrutiny of oft-overlooked minutiae and reveals to the reader a familiarity hitherto unknown to the most casual, albeit disaffected, observers among us. Staring blankly at the ceiling has its merits; but once aware of the patterns knocked into tin panels at turn-of-the-century taverns, one’s worldview becomes forever changed. In defiance of the banal myopia of modern America comes a fresh take on road-weary, starry-eyed dreaminess; inspiring rucksackers, gypsies, dharma bums and blues harp aficionados coast-to-coast."    - Dave Kennedy Traveling in Space
