Keenan, Colleen

colleenkeenan@hotmail.com

“This debut chapbook by Colleen Keenan is suave simplicity in the language of sheer reverie, ratcheting up to social perceptions of the culture with moxie confidence she brings to her subjects is a joy.  The blasé, if not laconic pronouncements of newspeak engage us as only a new voice can from the salt marshes of New London. Keenan rocks us in a city that has given up whaling instead of poetry.”  -Tom Weigel

Kolp, Scott

shkolp@gmail.com

Scott Kolp is not a New London native—he was born in Fort Worthington, Georgia to a young farmer couple who evidently cared more for their crops than him.  He was driven to writing at a young age, leaving home at 14 for El Reno, Oklahoma  where he worked for Daryl’s Outhouse Removal  and went on to chronicle his experiences in the acclaimed biography, My Life is Shit.   At the age of 23, he moved to New London on a hot tip about a career opportunity in the field of 3-D interactive feline obedience management.

Kolp studied under the direction of Keith Waldrop (2009 National Book Award winner for poetry), Robert Creeley , Michael S. Harper,  and Christina Mengert.  His work has appeared in Rushlight, Clerestory, The College Hill Independent, and My Big Fat Greek Wedding.  His chapbook, 21 Penis Haiku, was prematurely self-released much to the disappointment of his audience.

He currently runs McRobot 2056 Press which is currently accepting manuscripts of all kinds for publication.

Page, Sarah

Sarah enjoyed growing up in Old Mystic, CT and has been writing since childhood. She became associated with the New London School of Poetry in 2007 and has since been much more active in the poetry scene. She moved to San Francisco in 2008 but maintains connections with her New London poetry friends, often publishing them in Out of Our, a poetry journal she began in January, 2009. Her writing has appeared in The Mystic River Press, New London Day, BURP, Flying Fish, Elephant, and Out of Our. Her writing reflects what it is to be a conscious young woman writer in America at the turn of this century - ardurous, emotionally draining, celebratory, fun, political, and satirical all over the place. Out of Our is on consignment in City Lights and several other bookstores in the Bay Area, as well as Bank Square Books in Mystic. Sarah recently nominated six poems from the first year of Our of Our publications for Pushcart Prizes and hopes one or more of them receive the distinction they so deserve.

Out Of Our can be found on this Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/profile.php?ref=profile&id=1767533147

Can you hear me?

Dave Spinelli has been called an anti-poet.  He's been called the Junior Bard of New London.  He's been called the chronicler of the New London Poetry Wars .  But he mostly goes by Bambino.  His message to the world is, "Don't think about it.  Just write it."

His one and only chapbook is Hold the Tomatoes (Nameaug Press 2008).  His work has appeared in Tangerine, Fell Swoop, Burp, Flying Fish, Out of Our, Elephant, Fuck, and Chopper.  He is a regular contributor to The Scope.

He also likes to take lots of photos.  Bemo and The NL Poet Portrait Project  were shown at the Bean & Leaf and at the Thamesport Beanery.
