Lineup For "Hygienic Rock Fix" Announced
The Hygienic Rock Fix lineup of bands has been announced!
This years Rock Fix, (presented by Cosmodemonic Telegraph), will be held at The Crocker House Ballroom, (35 Union Street), in conjuction with The 31st Annual Hygienic Art Show on Saturday January 30.
The lineup this year seems to be a full on showcase of bands who are new to The Rock Fix bill; only 2 bands in the lineup are veterans of this annual event, so you'll get to see a lot of new stuff this year, and that's SWEET.
Where is the "rock" in The Rock Fix you ask? Yes, many of New London's key "rock" bands, (ie; Lo-Fi Radio Stars, The Suicide Dolls, Recur Occurrence, Superbald, Paul Brockett Roadshow, Brazen Hussy - even The Reducers), will not be appearing in this years 8 band lineup. Regardless, the bill this year is EXTREMELY diverse, a perfect representation of the New London music scene. You can bet they'll be something for everyone, and as always this will be one hell of an amazing show!!
Opening up the show are New London's newest and hottest garage rock act Straight To VHS, (who are set to release a record this month), followed by Joey "Royale" Macrino and Co. with the ghost banjo spook show Get Haunted. We've heard rumors that they'll be a few extra surprises during the Get Haunted set, so make sure not to miss them! Also new to the Rock Fix this year are jazz/hip-hop fusion act, Above Below, gypsy swing band Roadside Attractions and Alt. country boys The Hoolios. Veteran Rock Fix bands Fatal Film and The Weird Beards will be holding up the totem pole and showing everyone how it's done.
OK, so who's that out of town band in the middle? Probably one of the highlights of the Rock Fix this year, will be the "post punk", (er, almost gothic sounding), band WEEP from New York City, which features Doc Hammer, one of the creators of Adult Swim's The Venture Brothers. Doc Hammer, (who is also a New London native), has been contributing to the annual Hygienic Art show for 15+ years. How fitting! Mad props to our man Rich Martin for scoring these guys!
Here are the tentative set times:
(7pm) Straight to VHS
(7:45) Get Haunted
(8:30) Roadside Attractions
(9:15) Above Below
(10pm) Fatal Film
(10:45) WEEP
