Catfish Phillips

If you were stranded on a desert island with a vaporizer that replenished itself and a solar-powered CD player, what album would you grab? The truth of the matter is that most likely you'd opt for anything by Catfish Phillips. The accidental byproduct (read: broken rubber) of genuine smiles and organic substance influence, CFP is probably the best thing to be pushed out the metaphorical uterus since Lady Luck herself.

Comprised of singer/guitarist James McKeon, bassist JT Hvizdak, guitarist Anders, and drummer Jim Chapman, Catfish Phillips has a history as deep as Holmes (Sherlock) and long as Holmes (John). Beginning as a smoke session with instruments between friends, it wasn't long until this orgy of stimulation morphed into a collection of cohesive songs which they released as an EP titled "...Will Play For Beer". The plethora of requests for a live performance was the frosting atop the cake of fame and popularity, eaten gladly, and yet CFP felt something was missing. Long story short, CFP without the separation between business and pleasure, mattress and mechanical bull, and lead and rhythm guitarist...it was like Voltron without the dick. After a season or so of trial-and-error, they settled on Anders who has since been wooing girls with his dexterity and finger strength.

Catfish Phillips really began to take flight in 2010, with the release of their first full-length album "Backass Playground Bullshit". Recorded by the renowned John Skobrak at his studio in Eastern CT and exhaled to the world via a CD release party of mastadon proportions, their LP has spread accross the nation like peanut butter on a firecracker and acted as a wide-open door of opportunity for them to keep doing what they do (as if they'd stop anyway...).
